Katherine teaches a variety of subjects through a number of organisations.
Editing.
This course is now full and closed, however it may be run again in the second half of 2012.
In 2012 Katherine is again teaching Year of The Edit at the Queensland Writers Centre.
Any author will tell you the first draft is never the last and that you owe it to yourself to submit your work in the best possible form. Learn the practical tools to polish and refine your work in Year of the Edit. Across five progressive masterclasses, you will develop the skills to hone and refine your manuscript, in readiness for submission. Learn about structural editing, grammar, voice, and the crucial art of critique. You will participate in a group critique process with your peers and receive feedback on 10 sample pages from your manuscript.
This course is for writers who are dedicated to polishing their long form work ready for publication. This is not a beginner course.
Katherine has written and edited eight novels to date (three unpublished) and says, "I wish I'd done a course like this back when I was starting out: these lessons could have saved me so much time. Every day now as I write I use a number of these tools because they make what can often feel like an unwieldy pile of pages so much more manageable."
The course is held in Brisbane at the State Library of QLD, and the dates are Saturdays 22nd January, 25th February, 31st March, 12th May, and 23rd June 2012. For more information and how to book, visit the QWC page.
Suspense. There are no workshops scheduled at this time.
Mentorships/feedback sessions. Katherine works with the Northern Rivers Writers Centre in providing short mentorships and feedback sessions for writers who need guidance on where their project is going and how they might develop it further. Visit NRWC's mentorship page for more details.
School visits. Katherine visits schools to speak to students and teach workshops about writing, developing suspense, and editing. For more information contact Helen at Speakers Ink.
